Elfster is a big, well-known gift exchange app. Snowglobe Village is a small, cozy one: a snowy village your group shares all December.

Who Elfster is great for
Elfster has been around a long time and does a lot. It's a strong pick if you want:
- Native iOS and Android apps, alongside the website.
- More than one kind of exchange, including White Elephant.
- Shopping help, like trending gifts, curated gift guides and price alerts.
- Big or mixed groups, like an office exchange, where people may not know each other well.
Why a family or friend group might prefer Snowglobe Village
Snowglobe Village is built around one family's Christmas rituals: weeks of whispering, then one slow, sincere gift day. If that sounds like your group, here's what's different:
- No ads, no sponsored gift ideas, nothing to buy.
- A living village. Every member gets a cottage, and windows light up as wishes go on the shelf.
- Pip the mail elf. Letters and postcards are retold by Pip (an AI) in his own words, so your writing style is harder to recognize. You see his version before it goes.
- Ask the village. Stuck on a size? A Santa asks, and answers come back shown without names.
- Hints for a giftee's Santa, for the shy wisher who won't write a list.
- Gift Day opens one gift at a time on every screen at once, in the order you agreed.
- The Days: a shared schedule of arrivals, plans together and who's bringing what to dinner.
- Drawn in person? A mode for groups who pulled names from a hat.

What Snowglobe Village doesn’t do
Fair is fair. A few things to know before you pick:
- No native apps. It's a web app. It works in a phone browser, but there's nothing to download from an app store.
- Adults only. Snowglobe Village is for people 18 and over, in the United States.
- Secret Santa only. No White Elephant or Yankee Swap mode.
- An email address is needed. There's no password, but everyone signs in with their email.

Questions people ask
Is Snowglobe Village a good Elfster alternative?
For a family or a close group of friends who want December to feel like a shared place, yes: it has no ads, keeps couples apart in the draw, and adds things like letters retold by Pip, questions to the village and a Gift Day ceremony. For big office exchanges, White Elephant, or native phone apps, Elfster may suit you better.
Does Snowglobe Village have ads?
No. There are no ads and no sponsored gift ideas, and nothing to buy. Wishlists link to wherever you like to shop.
Can we use Snowglobe Village if we already drew names?
Yes. Turn on "Names were drawn in person" and each person privately tells the village who they drew.
