Free for Chrome · works with your village
Add to your wishlist from any shop
Spot the perfect thing while you browse? One click puts it on your Secret Santa shelf, picture and price included.
Coming soon to the Chrome Web Store
How it works
- Find something you'd love: a sweater, a cookbook, a pottery class.
- Click the little gift box in your toolbar.
- A small window opens with the name, picture and price filled in. Pick a shelf, add a note if you like.
- Press Put it on the shelf. Your village sees it on your list.
Nothing is saved until you press the button, and the window always says which village the wish is going to. Prefer to paste? Every shelf has a Paste button too.
What it can see
The extension asks Chrome for two permissions: activeTab and scripting. Together they let it read the tab you’re on, once, at the moment you click its button. It reads the address, title, share picture and listed price, then opens snowglobevillage.com with them. It can’t read other tabs or your browsing history, it stores nothing, and it has no analytics. Firefox, Safari or Edge on a computer
Drag this button to your bookmarks bar. On a shop page, click the bookmark and the same little window opens.
No bookmarks bar? Show it with Ctrl+Shift+B (⌘+Shift+B on a Mac).
On an iPhone
Safari doesn’t run extensions like this one, but a two-minute Shortcut puts “Add to my wishlist” in your share sheet:
- Open the Shortcuts app and tap + to make a new shortcut.
- Tap the ⓘ button, turn on Show in Share Sheet, and set it to receive URLs and Safari web pages.
- Add the action URL Encode and give it the Shortcut Input.
- Add the action Open URLs and type https://snowglobevillage.com/add?url= followed by the URL Encoded Text variable.
- Name it Add to my wishlist. Next time you're on a shop page, tap Share and pick it.
On Android, add Snowglobe Village to your home screen from Chrome’s menu. It then shows up in the share sheet on its own.
Questions people ask
What does the extension read, and when?
Nothing until you click its button. Then it reads the page you're on: its address, title, share picture and a listed price if the shop publishes one. It opens Snowglobe Village with those filled in. The extension stores nothing and has no tracking.
Does clicking the button add the wish straight away?
No. It opens a small window with the wish filled in, so you can fix the name, pick a shelf and add a note. Nothing goes on your shelf until you press Put it on the shelf.
Do I need a village to use it?
Yes. Wishes live on your shelf in a village, so you'll be asked to sign in the first time. If you're in more than one village, the window shows which one the wish is going to and lets you change it.
Is it free?
Yes. The extension, the bookmarklet and Snowglobe Village itself are free, with no ads and no sponsored gift ideas.
